Quick answer: In our kitchen calculator's planning model, a 10x10 kitchen (100 sq ft) comes to about $6,100 – $10,600 for a budget remodel, $15,000 – $22,500 for mid-range, and $30,900 – $40,200 for upscale, at the national baseline. These are derived planning ranges, not quotes. Permits, demolition, and surprises are extra, and your state and finishes will move them.

What a 10x10 kitchen means

A 10x10 kitchen is a room ten feet by ten feet, or 100 sq ft of floor area. It is a popular benchmark because it gives everyone the same layout to compare prices against, much like a standard test room. Real kitchens rarely match it exactly. The room has 40 feet of wall, but doorways, windows, and appliance openings take up part of it, so the cabinet runs are shorter than that. How many walls carry cabinets, and whether the layout is an L, a U, or a galley, matters as much as the floor area.

10x10 kitchen remodel cost by tier

We ran our kitchen calculator's formulas for 100 sq ft at the national baseline, using three combinations of its settings. These are planning ranges derived from the calculator's own constants, rounded to the nearest $100.

How we mapped 10x10 to the calculator

The calculator offers four size presets: Small at 75 sq ft, Medium at 125, Large at 200, and Extra Large at 300. A 10x10 kitchen at 100 sq ft sits between Small (labeled under 100 sq ft) and Medium (100-150 sq ft). Rather than round to a preset, we applied the calculator's per-square-foot rates to exactly 100 sq ft, which is how it prices every size.

That means the homepage will not show these exact figures. Choosing Small prices a 75 sq ft kitchen, about 25% lower than the ranges above, and Medium prices 125 sq ft, about 25% higher.

How to read these ranges

These figures come from a per-square-foot model, so they will not match whole-project averages quoted elsewhere, including the national tier ranges on our homepage, which describe a mix of kitchen sizes and scopes. The model prices cabinets, countertops, appliances, flooring, and labor. It does not price permit fees, demolition and debris disposal, or structural, electrical, and plumbing surprises. Most industry budgeting guidance suggests setting aside an extra 10-20% as a contingency, which matters more in older homes. The budget tier here pairs the Cosmetic level with stock cabinets, laminate, and basic appliances.

Adjusting for your state

The ranges above use the national baseline. Our calculator's state index runs from ×0.83 to ×1.35, so the mid-range 10x10 would be $12,500 – $18,700 at the lowest index and $20,300 – $30,400 at the highest. It is our own modeling estimate, not an official rate. Pick your state in the kitchen calculator to see your own range.

Bottom line

A 10x10 kitchen is small enough that finish choices drive the budget more than size does. Use these tiers to set expectations, then confirm with itemized local quotes. For other ways to trim a budget, read our guide to saving on a kitchen remodel.

All dollar ranges on this page are derived from the constants in our own kitchen remodel calculator (size, per-square-foot baselines, category weightings, tier adjustments, and state index) and rounded to the nearest $100. They are labelled planning ranges, not market quotes, and real costs vary by region, finish, and contractor.
